While many metaphysical tenets of Spinoza might seem problematic today, his 'Ethics' provides ... a metaphysical account of why we believe what we believe. This might in fact be a critical point of departure of the Spinozean theory of ideas from the contemporary discussion of bias and belief." (p. 69)
