English commentary: Apart from the problems created by the strict division of radical versus moderate Enlightenment, Spinoza does'n fit as the main inaugurator of radical Enlightenment in the sense of a pleading for a political turnover; one can rather see in his philosophy some elements of an "Enlighenment of Enlightenment" in respect to the aims of radical Enlighenment as understood by Israel.
