English commentary: The author defends his thesis againts his critics, that Radical Enlightenment - defined as "a stream of thought which combines the refuse of religious power with overthrowing of the ruling aristocratic-monarchic-ecclesiastical institutional framework" (p. 270) - was most systematically developed by Spinoza and was understood that way also in the history of his reception.
