English commentary: "Diderot, whom Israel takes to be an ostensibly quintessential Radical Enlighter, clearly did not Approach Spinoza as if his thought constituted a complete philosophical package to be transmitted wholesame. Similarly, Heinrich Friedrich Diez was alternively influenced by and unimpressed with Spinoza, but he clearly did not perceive Spinoza an entire System to be adopted once and for all" (pp. 301s.).
